**** With my increased appreciation of the work of both Post Malone and Halsey over the past couple of years, this was the song I was most interested to hear when I saw the tracklisting for Post's album. It didn't disappoint, immediately launching into the catchy chorus, which is only helped by the repetitions of "die for me" and "lied to me". Both are effective hooks, and very easy to recall, leaving an impression after the song has finished. I enjoy how this song pulls the "Somebody That I Used To Know" move, where both Post and Future pin the blame on the partner(s?) in the break up, before Halsey gets to come in with her response, which completely flips the story. Her verse is the strongest in every way, with great lyrics, a fantastic vocal, and an engaging melody. She's definitely the highlight of this song, although the whole thing is very enjoyable. |
